The Santa Lucia Highlands, located in the central coast, is one of California’s premier cool-climate winegrowing regions. Known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the region benefits from the wind and cooling effects of nearby Monterey Bay, which allow for extended hangtime and impeccable acid balance in these grapes.

For the 2016 Sobaranes Pinot Noir we use a special, small center block area of this vineyard.  We do 1 pump over per day during cold soak. Then, we warm the tank to 70 degrees and go to 2 punch downs a day through fermentation, until we get to 1 degree brix. Then, we do 1 punch down per day.

This is a deep, luxurious Pinot Noir with plum and baking spice. It has depth and complexity with beautiful acid balance that leads to a long, delicious finish.

Hand-picked at night to preserve the freshness of the grapes, the 2015 Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir was aged in French oak for 11 months.
