This vineyard is owned by the prominent wine growing family, the
Sangiacomos, and is located in the Sonoma Coast appellation. This area is ideal for growing chardonnay, having both a cool climate and well-drained soils. The Green Acre Hills block was planted to the Sangiacomo Wente selection in 1991.

Winemaker Michael Zardo says: “The rich, supple style of the wine was dictated by the vineyard site. This small but coveted property lent itself to producing this classic, full bodied chardonnay.”

The 2010 Green Acre Hills Chardonnay was barrel fermented Sur Lie and aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 40% new oak, 60% neutral oak and underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. Bâtonnage (barrel stirring) occurred once a day during initial fermentation and once a week after that.
