NEW RELEASE: 2019 ALDER SPRINGS VINEYARD
I am thrilled to release our first vintage of Chardonnay from Alder Springs Vineyard. Though 2019 was the first year we received fruit for Ten Acre, I have known Stuart Bewley and his vineyard for years. The vineyard is tucked away in the wilderness of northern Mendocino. Stu has worked tirelessly to grow the perfect grapes since purchasing the property in 1993. His efforts truly shine through in the wines. They are both bright and layered, complex, yet light-on-their-toes; I am so happy with the wines we are creating from Alder Springs Vineyard.
The 2019 Alder Springs Vineyard Chardonnay perfectly exemplifies Stuart's vineyard approach using the French selection massale method of combining the best budwood from his vineyard, resulting in a field blend including clones 76 and 96. The resulting wine merges the individual characteristics and is complex and layered, beginning with bright, uplifting aromatics of peach and green grass. On the palate, secondary floral elements emerge: lilacs and earthiness, while maintaining a core of stone fruit. This age-worthy wine will allow for significant cellaring.
