Tasting Notes
A dark and alluring nose delivers red apple and floral notes of plum blossoms. Sage and forest floor mingle over layers of soft tannins.
Vineyard Notes
The 2013 Ru’s Farm pinot noir is mainly sourced from our Big River Ranch Vineyard, located in the Russian River Valley. Surrounded on three sides by the Russian River, this unique terroir sees foggy mornings and cooler nights, with warm summer days that allow for a longer, slower ripening season and complexitiy within the grapes. Deep red sandy loam soils allow for drainage and adequate stressing of the vines.
Production Notes
The fruit was handpicked from several blocks in our Big River Ranch during the first week of September. Each lot underwent a cold soak for five to seven days in open-top tanks.During fermentation, hand punchdowns were performed twice daily. Each lot was aged separately in French oak barrels (30% new) for 11 months before being blended together.
